Fairy wool for your hobby

Fairy wool is extremely fine combed wool, which is 100% virgin wool. It consists of many small fine wool threads that make a perfect wool for felting. We offer in our assortment a great selection of beautiful single colors and already harmoniously composed color assortments.

With fairy wool you have the opportunity to creatively process a product from 100% nature. The wool for felting in our VBS Onlineshop consists largely of high-quality merino wool, is 100% naturally dyed. The creative design with this wool is therefore particularly environmentally friendly and sustainable. The soft material is used for crafting dolls, stuffing cuddly toys or pillows, for many practical creative ideas and also for fashionable accessories.

Adults and children love the soft feel of the unfelted wool. The structure and appearance of fairy wool is reminiscent of absorbent cotton - ideal for dolls' hair.

Fairy tale wool is not wool flakes but it is a particularly high quality wool for felting, because it consists of a fine strand of fiber, from which the required amount can be easily pulled out as a pleasantly long fiber web.

How does felting with fairy wool work?

During felting, by kneading or modeling, the individual fine threads are woven together to create a pretty wool felt: warming and sturdy as a fleece for slippers, bags or blankets, or as a decoration.

Wool for felting is processed either dry or also in the wet state. Therefore, wet felting and dry felting are distinguished from each other.

In wet felting, the high-quality fairy wool is modeled in the wet state with soap on a soft surface in shape. The kneading and modeling of the wool is very relaxing and is therefore also often used for therapeutic purposes. Wet felting is particularly robust.

In dry felting, the fairy wool is placed on a textile or soft base. A felting needle is repeatedly poked into the wool until the fibers have interwoven with each other. In this way, the wool can be used to felt complete picture motifs, which are then firmly interwoven with the fabric. Applique motifs felted onto fabric are also very popular. Dry felted objects are slightly softer to the touch than fairy wool processed by wet felting.

Look forward to your own "wellness experience" with fairy wool!
