Bulb Hyacinth in Wax
Anleitung No. 1737Hyacinths are the early messengers of spring. They smell wonderfully intensive and have beautiful bright colours. We show you how to dip the tubers in wax and create an eye-catcher in your home. This makes the hyacinths wonderfully easy to care for, as they no longer need to be watered.
This is how you make the pretty wax tubers:
We have used a double-walled aluminium melting pot to melt the wax. This is filled with water at the side filling opening and closed tightly with the stopper. Fill the desired wax into the melting pot and heat the melting pot on the hotplate. The wax filled in the melting pot is immediately heated and melted by the water heated in the sides and under the base. This prevents the wax from burning or overheating. When the wax granules have melted, let them cool down slightly. Do not use the wax when it is too hot, as it will destroy the cells of the plant.
If you do not have a melting pot available, you can also pour the wax into an old small pot that is no longer used for cooking and place it in a larger pot filled with water on the stove
Now take the onion out of the water and dab it dry. Shorten any roots with scissors. Now dip the bulb briefly into the melted wax. Repeat until an opaque layer of wax has formed. Let the wax dry.
Tips and more ideas
You can also colour your wax granulate with dye granulate. In this way you can, for example, produce different coloured wax nodules and arrange them as groupsAnother great idea is to place the bulbs in a mould and pour wax over them. In this way you get a striking and interesting decoration.
You like glitter? Then first dip your tuber in wax, let it dry well and then spray it with spray glue and sprinkle the tuber with glitter.
Since you don't have to cast the hyacinths in wax, they are also great for hanging up or decorating in flower arrangements.
