Plan your motif and apply stencil
Before you start with wooden burning , think about what motif you would like to use on your wooden money box. Lettering, symbols or simple patterns are popular.
Place the stencil in the desired position on the wooden money box.
Now transfer the contours of the stencil motif to the surface of the money box using a pencil. Trace the lines lightly so that they are clearly visible, but can easily be burned over later.
The advantage of tracing in advance: You can still correct small inaccuracies before you start working with the branding pen. This makes for relaxed and controlled work.
Wooden burning: Burning the motif into the wood
Now comes the creative part: the wooden burning. A branding pen is an electric tool with a heated tip that is used to burn lines and areas into the wood. Slowly move the branding pen along the pre-drawn lines.
Apply only light pressure - the heat will do the work for you. For darker areas, you can hold the tip a little longer in one place or paint areas evenly. Work step by step so that the motif is clean and even.
Check the finish and effect
When your motif is completely burnt in, allow the wood to cool briefly. Then check whether all the lines are clearly visible or whether you want to rework individual areas. The wooden burning creates a durable, slightly rustic look that goes perfectly with wood.
